SMALL-LEAVED LIME

Large tree with smooth, grey bark that fissures when older. Its leaves are alternately arranged and have a serrated edge, dark green on the surface and light green on the underside. The flowers grow in small, yellow bunches and are very fragrant.

FUN FACT: The linden flower it bears, which is made up of bracts and flowers, is used to make herbal tea which has a sedative effect. The flowers provide a large amount of nectar which is used by bees to make honey. The tree can live for more than 900 years.
